About this training
Guiding Children's Behaviour can be one of the hardest challenges in My Time Our Place framework within the Outside School Hours setting. This course is designed to give Educators an understanding of factors which impact on children's behaviour and simple strategies which support effective communication and response strategies to reduce the number of challenging behaviour situations within the services program.
The course will introduce information and response strategies which can be used by Educators to develop management plans and processes within the Outside School Hours Care setting.
The learning outcomes of this course include:
- Understanding Guiding Children's behaviour in OSHC
- Identifying normal childhood behaviours and an introduction to autism and ADHD;
- Duty of care implications;
- Understanding the impact that parents and family have on children's behaviour;
- Impact of sleep on children's behaviour;
- The impact of food and dehydration on a child's behaviour;
- The implementation of strategies to effectively implement boundaries for children's behaviour;
- Identifying tantrums and meltdown;
- Practical application of the RAVES behaviour management cycle;
- Practical application of self defence and vocalisation drills for employees;
- Improve and standardise workplace incident reporting and communication;
- The effective use of chill out areas.
