About this training

Our Level 1 – Nutrition Requirements for the Early Years Sector training covers the nutrition basics that all staff working in the early years sector need to be aware of including the Australian Dietary Guidelines, Get up and Grow Guidelines and nutrition in the National Quality Standard. Our Online nutrition training can help settings meet and exceed their requirements under the National Quality Standard.

Level 1 – Nutrition Requirements for the Early Years Sector topics include:

  • The importance of nutrition in early childhood settings
  • Nutrition and the National Quality Standard
  • The Australian Dietary Guidelines
  • The Get up and Grow Guidelines
  • Daily nutritional requirements for children
  • An introduction to managing food allergies and intolerances
  • An introduction to nutrition policy
  • Special occasions and celebrations
  • Nutrition and the assessment and rating process - activity

This training is the first level of a series of training options in nutrition for early years settings. Subsequent training courses will cover additional information such as menu planning, lunchboxes, positive meal times, infant feeding, policies and exceeding themes.
