About this training

This course will assist Early Years Educators, Organisations and Individuals to comply with their legislative requirements and meet duty of care obligations regarding Child abuse. 

This is the THIRD level of our Essential Child Protection series.

Course duration: 1.5 hours

Pre-Requisites:  Level 1 - Legal & Practical Response to Child Abuse; Level 2 - Building a Protective Environment for Children

National Law & Regulations - Sections 162A, 167 (National Law) &  Regulations 84, 168

NEW REQUIREMENT - ONLY FOR CERTAIN PERSONS

The approved provider of an education and care service must ensure that nominated supervisors, persons in day-to-day charge and family day care coordinators have completed ONE of the below courses under Section 162A of the Education and Care Services National Law.

If you hold one of these positions and HAVE ALREADY DONE ONE of these courses, then you are able to do this course as your refresher training.

Learning Outcomes of this course include:

  • Refresh of legislation, policies, reporting requirements and National Quality Framework updates relating to child protection (inc relevant State Child Safe Standards);
  • Understanding contemporary methodologies;
  • Conducting environmental SCAN's to identify risks to families and children;
  • Programming and activities which assist in identifying at risk behaviour or concerns;
  • Fostering ongoing engagement and communication with parents and children;
  • Sharing resources and ideas to promote children's social and emotional development;
  • Methods to implement Early Intervention strategies.

Course Description: This course examines the importance of understanding contemporary methodologies and early intervention strategies when considering the implementation of Child Protection processes and protocol within your educational community.  Prior to this you will do a refresher component in relation to Child Protection laws, legislation and mandatory reporting conditions, which will also cover when to report and how to report. This is all part of the Child Protection refresher training that is required under Regulation 84 (Education and Care Services National Law Regulations 2011).
